It reads a little low, so I keep that in mind when using it. It is consistent, so I know that my son usually reads 96 degrees so when he is up around 99 or so on this one, I just do a rectal. I would much rather have the ear indicator than do the rectal thermometer frequently! It’s saved lots of hassle. It does require the covers, but if I don’t mind using the same ones over for the same kid. . .no biggie if you can’t get to the store. Someone complained about a battery problem. My son is two and we’ve never had to replace the batteries. Maybe theirs was defective. I would recommend this product, but with any thermometer, you just have to get used to how it reads and adjust your actions accordingly.
